About
The Alphonse-Gabrielle, conveniently located in the outskirts of Québec City near the village of Wendake, offers access to different services and tourist areas: shopping centres, restaurants, a biking path, ski centres and other attractions.
The House
The house was built in 1922 and several volunteer workers came to help the builders. The wood used came from an old house near the moulin des Mères (a mill built in 1695 by Jean LeRouge for the congregation of Sisters of the hospital, Hôtel-Dieu de Québec). Originally, the house had three gables and a tin roof.
The Proprietors
Alphonse Bédard and Gabrielle Paquet were married on October 5, 1936. They lived in the house for about 60 years and raised 11 children there. Yvon Bédard, the seventh child of Alphonse and Gabrielle, and his wife Nicole Rémillard now own the house.
